Philly Cheesesteak Casserole

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef (or thin-sliced steak)
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 8 oz mushrooms, sliced (optional but delicious)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella
  • 1 cup shredded provolone

For the topping (optional)

  • 1 cup cooked pasta or
  • 2 cups toasted bread cubes or
  • 1 can refrigerated biscuits (quartered) for a comfort-food style top

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a skillet, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add peppers, onions, mushrooms, and garlic. Cook until tender.
  4. Stir in beef broth, Worcestershire, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
  5. Add cream cheese and mix until melted and creamy.
  6. Pour mixture into a baking dish.
  7. Sprinkle with mozzarella and provolone.
  8. Add your topping choice (pasta, bread cubes, or biscuits).
  9. Bake 20–25 minutes, until bubbly and golden.
