Ooey Gooey Bars

A rich, buttery base topped with a sweet, creamy, golden “gooey” filling.
Only a few ingredients — but unbelievably delicious.

Ingredients

Crust Layer

  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 egg

Gooey Layer

  • 8 oz (225 g) cream cheese, softened
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3½ cups powdered sugar

(Optional: add 1 cup white chocolate chips for extra gooeyness)

Instructions

1. Make the Crust

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  3. In a bowl, mix the cake mix, melted butter, and 1 egg.
  4. Press the thick dough evenly into the bottom of the dish.

2. Make the Gooey Filling

  1. Beat the cream cheese until smooth.
  2. Add the 2 eggs + vanilla.
  3. Add powdered sugar slowly and beat until creamy and thick.
  4. Pour mixture over the crust.

3. Bake

Bake for 35–40 minutes, until:

  • the edges are golden
  • the center is set but still soft and gooey

Do not overbake — the middle should jiggle slightly.

4. Cool & Cut

Let cool completely before slicing into bars.

Dust with powdered sugar if you want that bakery look.
