Cheddar Bay Biscuits

Introduction

These fluffy, cheesy, garlicky biscuits are inspired by the famous restaurant favorite—but made right in your own kitchen. Packed with sharp cheddar and brushed with garlic-herb butter, Cheddar Bay Biscuits are the ultimate savory side for soups, seafood, or any comfort meal. And the best part? They come together in under 30 minutes!

Ingredients (Makes 10–12 biscuits)

For the biscuits:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 3/4 cup cold buttermilk (plus more if needed)

For the garlic butter topping:

  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley (or fresh, finely chopped)
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Make the biscuit dough:
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and garlic powder. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in the shredded cheddar. Add the buttermilk and mix just until combined (do not overmix).
  3. Scoop and shape:
Use a large spoon or ice cream scoop to drop mounds of dough onto the baking sheet, about 2 inches apart.
  4. Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the tops are lightly golden.
  5. Make the garlic butter:
While the biscuits bake, stir together melted butter, garlic powder, parsley, and salt.
  6. Brush and serve:
As soon as the biscuits come out of the oven, brush them generously with the garlic butter. Serve warm and enjoy every buttery bite.

Enjoy!
