Old-Fashioned Chocolate Sticks
Ingredients
For the dough:
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
For the chocolate filling:
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1/4 cup sweetened condensed milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
For topping:
- Powdered sugar (optional)
Preparation
1. Make the dough
In a large bowl, beat the butter and sugar until creamy.
Add the egg and vanilla; mix well.
Stir in flour, baking powder, and salt until a soft dough forms.
Cover and chill for 20–30 minutes.
2. Make the chocolate filling
Add chocolate chips, butter, and sweetened condensed milk to a small saucepan.
Melt over low heat, stirring until smooth.
Remove from heat and mix in vanilla.
Let cool slightly — it should be thick and spreadable.
3. Shape the sticks
Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C).
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Roll the chilled dough into a rectangle (about 1/4 inch thick).
Cut into long strips about 1 inch wide.
Spread a thin line of chocolate filling down the center of each strip.
Fold the edges over to seal, forming long sticks.
Place seam-side down on the baking sheet.
4. Bake
Bake 12–15 minutes or until lightly golden.
Cool completely.
Dust with powdered sugar if desired.
Tips
- Use dark chocolate for richer flavor.
- Add crushed nuts inside for crunch.
- Dip the tips into melted chocolate for a pretty finish.
Enjoy !!!
