Cook time: 15 minutes
Ingredients
- 1 pound beef liver, sliced
- 1 cup milk (for soaking)
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons oil
Optional:
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- Fresh parsley for garnish
Preparation
1. Soak the Liver
Place liver slices in a bowl and cover with milk.
Let soak for 20–30 minutes to mellow the flavor and help tenderize the meat.
Drain and pat dry with paper towels.
2. Prepare the Flour Coating
In a shallow bowl, mix flour, salt, and black pepper.
Lightly dredge the liver slices in the flour mixture.
3. Cook the Onions
In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon butter and 1 tablespoon oil over medium heat.
Add sliced onions and cook for 8–10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until soft and golden.
Remove onions from the skillet and set aside.
4. Fry the Liver
Add the remaining butter and oil to the skillet.
Cook the liver slices for 2–3 minutes per side until browned on the outside but still tender inside.
Avoid overcooking, as liver can become tough.
5. Combine and Serve
Return the onions to the skillet and warm briefly with the liver.
Serve immediately.
