Ingredients
- 2 cups whole milk
- ⅔ cup granulated sugar
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
Alternative version (for thicker, quicker results):
- 1 cup powdered milk
- ⅔ cup sugar
- ½ cup boiling water
- 4 tablespoons butter
🥄 Instructions (Stovetop Method)
- Combine milk and sugar:
In a medium saucepan, whisk together the milk and sugar over medium heat. - Simmer gently:
Bring to a low simmer, stirring frequently to dissolve the sugar. Continue cooking for about 30–40 minutes, or until the mixture reduces by about half and thickens slightly. - Add butter and vanilla:
Remove from heat, stir in butter and vanilla (if using), and whisk until smooth. - Cool and store:
Let cool completely before transferring to a glass jar. It will thicken further as it cools.
⚡ Quick Blender Method (Using Powdered Milk)
- Add powdered milk, sugar, butter, and boiling water to a blender.
- Blend for 2 minutes until smooth and creamy.
- Let cool — it will thicken to a condensed milk consistency.
🧊 Storage
- Store in an airtight jar in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
- For longer storage, freeze in small portions (up to 3 months). Thaw overnight before use.
💡 Tips
- Use evaporated milk instead of whole milk for an even creamier texture.
- If it crystallizes slightly in the fridge, warm it gently and stir.
- Works perfectly in key lime pie, fudge, tres leches cake, and coffee drinks.
Enjoy !!!
