Ingredients
- 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
- 1 cup brown sugar
- ½ cup white sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 2 cups chocolate chips (semi-sweet or milk)
- Optional: ½ cup chopped pecans or walnuts
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Beat butter, brown sugar, and white sugar until creamy and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla.
- In another bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
- Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients and mix until combined.
- Fold in chocolate chips (and nuts if using).
- Drop spoonfuls onto a baking sheet lined with parchment.
- Bake 9–11 minutes, just until edges are golden.
- Let cool on the pan for 2 minutes before moving to a rack.
